Closing the auditorium building has the potential to reduce costs associated with facilities. What is your reaction to this option?

No facility large enough in Hampton for plays and musicals
Using the gym would put a huge burden on that facility
Gym – seating uncomfortable
Lose gym (M.S. & H.S.) So scheduling issue
Poured money into these buildings in recent years M.S. Gym (new) not conducive to concerts
Poor decision to close it – it will kill plays and musicals
How do we address all building maintenance needs?

It sounded like it wasn’t good to begin with why didn’t they close it down then?
Basketball, football get rewarded for great things… music does great things –where’s our reward? Tear down our building?
90% of students attend fine arts – Why aren’t they being heard?
You’re taking something away from more kids.
Are we going to be asked to build a new one in 5 years?
A gym isn’t a good place for play/concerts.
You need to give us something. Are they going to take away plays and drama, too!?!
Save?? $40,000 – just save restrooms and auditorium. Costs is the amount of savings going to be that great?
We use it now for play practice
We use it year round. There is something always going on.
We use the gym for athletics
Music is education!! Everything in school (content) can be used in music.
Why does the music program have to be the solution to money problems?
Loss of auditorium and spare gym – it gets lots of use now – 7 days per week
Could auditorium be a community-supported endeavor for awhile?
Terrible loss; Communities are taking these loses due to overspending of school board – Not fair to the communities
Who would maintain grounds?
City commitments already an issue
We just sunk $750,000 into the building – lack of planning; Mismanagement
Code requirements necessitated spending
Unfortunate alternative – but not hearing any better solutions
Auditorium closing will affect programs.

If buildings are closed – then what are our long-range plans?
Athletic programs could suffer if they have to share space for practices with other activities
Stupid to have spent over $500 k on it so far… needs to be closed

Roof repairs – why was new scoreboard and new floors in gym and roof not repaired?

Agree –Save money willing to sacrifice a comfy seat at concert for better education for kids.
Fine Arts performances, sports get new equipment with wins, Fine Arts needs a place to perform.
