South Side Elementary serves approximately 285 first through third graders. Our goal is to create a safe, caring culture of high expectations where all reach their greatest potential. In addition to academics, we stress the importance of character development through Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS). Our H-D Elementary Staff promotes the PBIS expectations to be safe, act responsible, respect others, and to keep working hard.
As parents, you play a valuable role in providing the best educational program for your child. We encourage you to visit the school and your child’s classroom, volunteer your time and contact the school with questions or concerns. Hampton-Dumont is a great place to observe excellence every day.

1. Iowa School Report Card:
The Iowa School Report Card makes it easier for our community to access and understand important information about our schools. Numbers and ratings, however, do not tell the whole story. We hope the information in the Iowa School Report Card can enhance conversations in our community about the work under way to prepare students for success. Click this link to access the Iowa School Report Card (then type our school name in the search box).
2. Postsecondary Readiness Reports:
Iowa has comprehensive information on student postsecondary enrollment and preparedness that can be connected to every public high school in Iowa. The Postsecondary Readiness Reports cover enrollment in colleges and universities, remedial course-taking rates, and postsecondary retention and completion rates for students who graduated from public high schools in Iowa.
