Our District At A Glance. . .

The Hampton-Dumont Community School District is a progressive school district that takes great pride in the educational opportunities afforded its students. The district's dedication to its 1,163 young people is reflected in:

  • A commitment to the use of technology in learning
  • A dedicated staff who are committed to continuous growth and development and to providing the best education possible for kids
  • Low student-teacher ratios, which provide for personalized attention to each student
  • A comprehensive and balanced educational program
  • Student participation and community interest in extracurricular activities. Approximately 90 percent of secondary students are involved in at least one extracurricular activity.

Our district is comprised of five buildings. Two elementary buildings, the middle school and the high school building are located in Hampton. Third and fourth grade students attend the Hampton-Dumont Intermediate School located in Dumont. Our elementary buildings are grade-alike buildings. Prep Kindergarten and ECSE students attend North Side Elementary, while kindergarten, first, and second grade students attend South Side Elementary. A new addition to South Side Elementary in 2005 allowed the district to reduce the number of attendance centers. Our new middle school, housing students in grades 5-8, opened January 3, 2007.

From 1988-1995 Hampton and Dumont schools were engaged in a sharing agreement. In 1995 a merger was approved by the residents of the two districts. Since then, the district has been known as the Hampton-Dumont Community School District. It covers 239 square miles and has a ratio of one teacher per 12.45 students. The district employs over 200 people, making it one of the area's largest employers.
